Important August 2025 Tax Deadlines for Individuals

The tax deadlines for August 2025 are upon us. Ensure you report July tips by August 11 and remain aware of potential disaster extensions and holiday rules. A small oversight could lead to significant costs.

August 11 - Reporting Tips to Your Employer

If you’re an employee earning tips and received over $20 in tips during July, you're required to report them to your employer by August 11 using IRS Form 4070. Your employer will withhold FICA and income taxes from your wages. If your wages don’t cover the needed tax withholding, it will be reflected in box 8 of your W-2 as uncollected withholding, which you’ll need to pay with your annual return.

Adjustment for Weekends & Holidays

Should a due date coincide with a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, it automatically moves to the following business day. This ensures compliance without unnecessary penalty for timing issues.
