Essential July 2025 Business Tax Deadlines Every Entrepreneur Should Know

Stay ahead of your accounting game by keeping track of the critical July 2025 business tax deadlines. Whether you're managing payroll, tackling Form 941, or ensuring pension plan compliance, being proactive can help your business avoid penalties and run smoothly.

July 1 - Self-Employed Individuals with Pension Plans

Entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals with pension or profit-sharing plans should be aware that a Form 5500 or 5500-EZ for the 2024 calendar year might be due soon. Although the forms have a filing deadline of July 31, make sure to reach out to our Maitland office in the greater Orlando area now to discuss your filing requirements and allow ample preparation time.

July 15 - Social Security, Medicare, and Withheld Income Tax

For employers, if the monthly deposit rules apply, your business must deposit Social Security, Medicare, and withheld income tax for June 2025 by July 15. This date is also important for the nonpayroll withholding deposits for June 2025 under the same rules.

July 31 - Self-Employed Individuals and All Employers

This is the final day to file Form 5500 or 5500-EZ for the 2024 calendar year if you maintain a pension, profit-sharing, or stock bonus plan. Businesses using a fiscal year for their plan must file the form by the last day of the seventh month after their plan year ends.

July 31 - Form 941 and Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)

It's essential to file Form 941 for the second quarter of 2025 and address any undeposited tax according to the accuracy of deposit rules. Should your tax liability be under $2,500, you can pay it in full with a timely filed return or utilize the extended filing opportunity until August 11 if you meet deposit conditions.

Also, if you owe more than $500 in FUTA tax through June, ensure to deposit it by this date.

Weekends & Holidays Consideration If a due date lands on a weekend or legal holiday, remember it extends to the next business day.

Disaster Area Extensions

In the event of a declared disaster area, tax deadlines may extend. Stay informed on these updates via official FEMA and IRS websites for any applicable extensions.
